Madura University FKIP Mathematics Education Study Program Holds International Guest Lecture with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Pamekasan, 28 October 2025 — The Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Madura University successfully held an International Guest Lecture activity with the theme "Higher Order Thinking and Its Implementation in Mathematics Learning", Tuesday (28/10/2025).

Pamekasan, 28 October 2025 — The Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Madura University successfully held an International Guest Lecture activity with the theme "Higher Order Thinking and Its Implementation in Mathematics Learning", Tuesday (28/10/2025).

This activity, which was held offline in the UNIRA 3rd Floor Laboratory Hall and online via Zoom Workspace, presented international speakers, Ts. Dr. Sharifah Osman FP, Associate Professor from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The event was moderated by Rohmah Indahwati, M.Pd., lecturer in the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP Madura University.

Also attending the activity were Deputy Chancellor I, Rahmad M.Pd., and Deputy Chancellor II, Dr. Win Yuli Wardani, M.Hum., along with lecturers at FKIP Madura University.

In his speech and opening the activity, Dr. Win Yuli Wardani, M.Hum. expressed his appreciation and support for holding this international scale activity. According to him, guest lecture activities are a form of implementing campus internationalization which is in line with Madura University's vision to improve academic quality on a global basis.

"Through activities like this, students not only broaden their scientific horizons, but also gain inspiration from an international perspective regarding Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based mathematics learning. This is very important to produce prospective educators who are creative, innovative, and adaptive to current developments," said Dr. Win Yuli Wardani in his speech.

Meanwhile, speaker Ts. Dr. Sharifah Osman FP explained various strategic approaches in integrating Higher Order Thinking into mathematics learning. He also shared experiences and best practices that have been implemented at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to foster critical thinking and problem solving skills among students.

This event received high enthusiasm from students from the Mathematics Education Study Program who attended both in person and virtually. Through interactive discussion sessions, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and have direct dialogue with the presenters regarding the application of HOTS in the educational context of Indonesia and Malaysia.
